The Hat That Gives Back: How You Can Help KPMG and Phil Mickelson Get New Books for Kids in Need
Every Purchase of Phil’s Blue Hat Provides Three New Books for Kids in Need, Thanks to First Book and KPMG
WASHINGTON, July 19 – This summer, you can do good and get something cool for your favorite golf fan in return.
KPMG and golf champion Phil Mickelson have joined forces with First Book, a nonprofit that provides new books to schools and programs serving kids in need, to make a difference this summer. For everyone who buys an authentic blue tour hat, exactly like the one Phil wears, First Book will be able to provide three brand-new books to kids from low-income families.
This special promotion is made possible thanks to audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG. Net proceeds from sales of the hat will go directly to First Book to help provide new books for kids in need.
“Every golf fan knows Phil Mickelson and his trademark tour hats,” said Kyle Zimmer, president and CEO of First Book. “We’re thrilled that KPMG is making these hats available to his many fans, and doing so in a way that will help us put books and other educational resources into the hands of kids in need.”
“Without ongoing access to new books, the chances of kids becoming readers go way down, and reading skills are the greatest predictor of a child’s ability to succeed in school,” Zimmer continued. “Phil’s fans will have the chance to make a real impact in children’s lives. We’re grateful to them – and to our friends at KPMG for making this possible.”
