First Book-Alburquerque | |
About UsFirst Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, First Book has distributed more than 65 million free and low-cost books to disadvantaged children and the programs that serve them. First Book-Alburquerque was founded in November, 2005. Since then, we have raised $1,500 for local program grants. In August of 2006 we were awarded a $1,000 one time grant from the Hispano Round Table. We have also raised funds via a local event and individual donations through word of mouth. In collaboration with the opening (moving) of the Borders Book store to Uptown, the Advisory Board held a First Book Speed Read event on November 11, 2006. Lt. Governor Diane D. Denish joined First Book-Alburquerque to present 500 new books to Head Start preschoolers Contact UsYou can contact us by sending an email. |
