About UsFirst Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, First Book has distributed more than 65 million free and low-cost books to disadvantaged children and the programs that serve them. First Book Rural Alaska is here to support literacy programs within rural communities outside of the Alaskan road system. One of the ways we hope to do this is through the distribution of new books to children of all ages (Birth – 12th grade) who, for economic and geographical reasons, have limited access to books.
