About UsFirst Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, First Book has distributed more than 65 million free and low-cost books to disadvantaged children and the programs that serve them.
First Book-Eau Claire is a Campus Advisory Board made up of University of Wisconsin’s faculty and students. We hold annual fundraisers in order to hold grant cycles which are available to local literacy programs. We collaborate with local Head Starts and other literacy related programs serving children from low-income households in the Chippewa Valley. This includes preschool programs, programs serving children who have English as a Second Language, and other programs such as shelters for homeless families, family literacy, and domestic violence centers.
