Volunteer Opportunities
In hundreds of communities across the country, First Book volunteers are helping to bring the magic of books to children in need. First Book believes that local individuals can best identify the strengths and needs of their communities.

First Book Advisory Boards are committees of volunteers, representing a community or campus, that come together to raise awareness and funds in order to provide new books to local literacy programs serving children from low-income families.

Our successes

Advisory Boards utilize their strengths to fundraise in fun, innovative ways to provide books to children in their area.

  • First Book-Lynn, MA held a memorable event where their corporate donors spent time reading to the children they had supported with their generous donations.
  • First Book-Geneva, NY at Hobart and William Smith Colleges partnered with the Geneva Recreation Department to hold a fundraising event at a Hobart Hockey game that they called Skating for Stories.
