Thank You KPMG’s Family for Literacy for One Million Books
Open a book and open a child’s future
First Book is proud to thank KPMG's Family for Literacy initiative, KPMG LLP's innovative citizenship program, for reaching the one million book milestone.
Providing more than ONE MILLION BOOKS TO KIDS IN NEED and setting a new standard in activism by engaging the entire KPMG community—partners and employees, their spouses and families, and interns, retirees, and alumni—this multi-year, multi-faceted program features local outreach, volunteer opportunities, book distributions, and celebration events.
Local KPMG offices have raised funds and awareness for the cause of literacy over the past two years and thousands of KPMG employees and family members have volunteered for more than 26,000 hours in communities across the nation.
KPMG’s Family for Literacy, which pairs KPMG commitment and resources with First Book’s national reach and local impact, has garnered widespread acclaim including mentions in Forbes, Los Angeles Times and the Washington Business Journal. In addition, Susan Flynn and Beth Veihmeyer, who co-founded KPMG’s Family for Literacy initiative, were on hand to accept the 2008 Connect America - Partner of the Year award on behalf of KPMG.
First Book is honored to have the support of KPMG and thanks everyone involved in KPMG's Family for Literacy for helping us achieve even more for the children we serve. Please join KPMG's Family for Literacy in support of First Book.
“Encouraging children to read is absolutely crucial to their development and future learning potential. First Book is a world-class organization with a compelling mission and a 15-year record of accomplishment. Together we will open new worlds of possibility for children who need books in their lives.”
