First Book-Orlando, FL

First Book-Orlando is a local Advisory Board dedicated to forwarding the First Book mission here in Orange County (FL). Our Advisory Board is comprised of ardent volunteers from all sectors of the community who have joined forces to provide new books to local youth in need. We work to achieve the following goals:

• Raise funds to support the purchase of new books for children living in low-income families (6-12 new books are provided to every youth served);
• Partner with established and effective local literacy programs to distribute new books to the youth they serve, ensuring that awarded books are distributed in a context of learning;
• Recruit additional action-oriented Advisory Board members who represent a professional and cultural cross-section of the community;
• Help cultivate community awareness regarding local and national youth literacy issues; and
• Participate in First Book national cause-based marketing events and campaigns.
