First Book is a nonprofit organization with a single mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books.

First Book-Georgetown University was officially formed in the fall of 2003. Since our establishment, First Book-Georgetown University has granted more than 10,000 books to children from low-income families in the Washington, DC, area. Our recipient groups include a dozen of literacy-based programs and elementary schools throughout DC. Our goal is not just to fight illiteracy, but to end it!
