About the position:
First Book is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, business-minded, entrepreneurial team member to join the National Engagement Team. The National Engagement Team resides at the forefront of First Book’s growth trajectory, as is responsible for growing the network of programs and teachers we serve and for driving usage of First Book’s resources. A larger network with a higher volume of usage drives down the cost of the books for the programs we serve, and as a result, expands the number of books and educational resources that reach low-income children worldwide. The Partner Coordinator is responsible for supporting the cultivation and management of partnerships within the nonprofit sector. These partnerships are established to generate awareness for First Book, connect new recipient groups to First Book’s network, and stimulate usage of First Book resources – resulting in the delivery of more books to children in need.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Partnership Support – Assist team in building a strong, sustainable partner network. Under guidance of the Director, independently cultivate and manage relationships with local school districts, community programs, and regional non-profit organizations. Conduct research to identify school districts and national programs serving kids in need; incorporate research into proposals for new partner outreach and development. Prepare partner presentations and follow-up materials to support the Engagement Manager’s outreach and partnership development. Conduct a collateral audit and work with Marketing to update old or create new outreach collateral, as needed. Provide exceptional customer service, responsiveness, project management and extraordinary attention to detail on behalf of your team and its partners. Create quarterly and annual wrap-up reports by partner.
- Engagement Stimulation – Work with Engagement Managers and Director to support partner opportunities for driving registration and usage stimulation. Conduct research around market need and localized education-based initiatives; utilize this insight to inform methods of outreach with school districts and community organizations nationwide. Help brainstorm around and develop new engagement opportunities based on current partner objectives/goals. Manage execution of partner-based usage initiatives. Manage special Publisher Relations and Marketplace team requests on behalf of your partners, and bring agreed upon partner FBMP orders to closure.
- Project Management – Support the execution of partner-related initiatives. Create project plans, design systematic processes and construct communication tools that support the timely implementation and efficient management of the National Engagement Team’s projects. Develop an understanding and a navigational knowledge of First Book’s internal database and CRM systems; import, manipulate and leverage data to assist with account management. Communicate directly with partners and individuals in our network to coordinate and execute on special opportunities and initiatives. Execute flawlessly, and measure and report on results. Understand how to navigate and coordinate internally among cross-functional teams.
- First Book Representation – Represent First Book at partner meetings, conferences, and receptions. Host webinars.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1-2 years of program or project management experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required.
- Marketing and communications experience a plus.
