Accounting Coordinator

About This Position:

The Accounting Coordinator is an essential part of the First Book team, providing critical support for the Accounting department.   The position demands the highest attention to detail, analytical and creative thinking; basic understanding of accounting principles, and excellent writing and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties

  • Make online deposits
  • Handle all accounts payable by reviewing invoices for accuracy, issuing payments and maintaining vendor files
  • Reconcile and maintain ledgers for various vendors
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets with revenue and expense detail
  • Assist in the preparation of state annual filings
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audit
  • Allocate revenue and expenses for Advisory Board ledgers
  • Reconcile corporate credit card on a monthly basis
  • Maintain schedule of fixed assets
  • Other tasks as assigned to support to the Accounting Department

  • Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting software
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use and operation of standard office equipment
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and possess excellent organizational and time management skills, be self-motivated and energetic
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written), including a strong command of the English language
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, and be willing and skillful in interacting with a wide variety of people
  • Must have a strong, pleasant and patient telephone manner
  • Must be dependable and punctual

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of work experience required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
