Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories Children's Book Contest

2008 Cheerios® Spoonfuls of Stories® Children's Book Contest: Second Annual Call for Judges!

First Book is thrilled to offer the opportunity for Advisory Boards to earn a cash incentive by participating in the Cheerios® Spoonfuls of Stories® Children's Book Contest in 2008.   Building on the success of last year’s program, with more than 1,000 story entries, Cheerios is asking for First Book Advisory Boards to assist once again!

Not only was the contest a success for Cheerios but many Advisory Boards noted how much they enjoyed participating.  Dee Martin-Spallone with First Book—Blair County, PA stated, “Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve First Book in this way.  We had fun doing this.”

The contest invites previously unpublished adult authors to submit their children’s book manuscripts.  This year, the contest will launch on April 16, 2008, with entries accepted through July 15, 2008. The winner will have their book reviewed for a potential book deal with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, and Cheerios will provide cash prizes to the top three finalists.   The contest web site is www.spoonfulsofstoriescontest.com.

As part of Cheerios’ ongoing partnership with First Book, our Advisory Board network has been asked to assist in the initial screening process of the contest entries.  The number of entries received will determine how many Advisory Boards will be able to participate and Boards will be selected on a first come, first served basis.  Boards will receive a cash incentive that will be credited to their ledger and determined at a later date.

Please contact your Community Development Manager by Tuesday, April 29, 2008 to express your Board’s interest in participating in this exciting initiative! First Book will notify your Board by mid-May about participation in this project.  Please note: due to your critical role in this contest, First Book Advisory Board members are not eligible to enter the contest.
