First Book-Bonneville County, ID | |
Established in 2003, First Book-Bonneville County consists of volunteers from throughout the Idaho Falls area, representing non-profit agencies, businesses and the community. Local organizations represented include the Post Register, Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership, Head Start, Barnes & Noble, KIDK-TV, etc. Additionally, Advisory Board members include retired teachers, stay at home mothers, and students. Many members of the community are designated “Friends” of First Book-Bonneville County and support the Board for special events and helping to spread the word of our mission. For the 2006 Grant Cycle, First Book-Bonneville County's goal was to provide $8000 worth of books to non-profit agencies which serve low-income children. We surpassed that goal and raised over $11,000. We also partnered with Success by Six to provide $75,000 worth of literacy kits to Southeast Idaho Head Start and Early Intervention children. As a result we were presented the Senator Crapo Award of Excellence. The Boards fundraising goal for the 2009 Grant Cycle is $20,000.
